Biography

Levan Lasareishvili (Luka Lazar) was born in Tbilisi, in 1957. He studied at the Tbilisi State Art Academy from 1976 to 1982 from which he graduated with a Masters of Fine Arts degree.  He works as multimedia artist. From 1988 he lives abroad as an independent, professional artist and has been participated in numerous solo- and group exhibitions in galleries and museums.

Luca Lazar seeks to transmit the sensations he experienced into art, attempting to go beyond their material presentation. In his search and experimentations, he discovered his main interest lies in movement in time, in frequency with a certain velocity and rhythm.

Luca Lazar is translating our environment, motion and perception into sensual, abstract, minimalistic forms. The repetitive forms, in size and directions create an absorbent vibration. Those particles generate movement, dynamics and energy. This is further intensified by the generally large sizes of the works. The works are an attempt at leaving traditional ways of perception behind.
