Biography 

Tea Okropiridze was born in 1974 in Tbilisi, Georgia. In 1994 she received her first degree from Tbilisi in the I. Nikoladze Arts College, majoring in Sculpture. In 2002 Tea received Honors Degree from the University of Culture, majoring in Fiber/Tapestry.

In 2002, Tea Okropiridze moved to the USA and continued her career in Northern Virginia.

Since 1999 she has participated in numerous exhibitions.
Some of the most recent exhibitions include: (2019) Experience Georgian Culture – Embassy of Georgia - Washington DC. (2018), Four Seasons - Gallery B, Bethesda MD. The Biggest Little Tapestries in the World!: 12th international, small format tapestry exhibition - Reno, NV (2017). 6th International Triennial of Tapestry "Novi Sad 2017" Serbia. Focus on Fiber - Glen Echo Park, MD. The Creative Crafts Council 31st Biennial - Strathmore Mansion, Bethesda, MD. Experience Georgian Culture - Embassy of Georgia in Washington DC. International Exhibition of Contemporary Arts - EGOS XIII- Oud Sint- Jan Museum, Bruges, Belgium; (2016) From Lausanne to Beijing-9th International Fiber Art Biennale - Guan Shan Yue Art Museum, Shenzhen, China. Fiber National 2016 - Workhouse art Center, Lorton, VA. Threads: A Sampling of the Fiber Arts - Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, Dowell, MD; (2015) Kate Derum Award for Small Tapestries - Melbourne, Australia. Small Tapestry International 4 - American Tapestry Alliance, USA to name a few.

Tea Okropiridze won Award of Excellence from Lausanne to Beijing 9th International Fiber Art Biennale. (2016); The Shayna Heisman Simkin Best in Show Award - The Art League Gallery (2013).

Since 2004 Tea Okropiridze runs Art Woodstone Studio in Virginia. As well as she teaches Tapestry at Smithsonian Associates Studio Art program in Washington, DC; The Art League School in Alexandria, VA; and the Art and US Art Center in Chantilly, VA
